Electric water heaters were probably the first to be invented and used. As a system it is very primitive, and yet there has been very little advancement in its design since its inception. An electric water heater is nothing but a huge tank of water that has a coil that is placed inside. This coil is connected to your current supply so that when you turn it on, the coil gets heated and thus heats the water.
Obviously the heater needs to be insulated, and for two reasons.
